What is microneedling?
Microneedling — sometimes called collagen induction therapy — uses a device fitted with fine, sterile needles to create a series of tiny, controlled punctures in the skin's surface. These micro-injuries are far too small to see individually, but they're enough to trigger the skin's natural wound-healing response: new collagen and elastin production, improved cell turnover, and gradually firmer, smoother-looking skin.
Unlike injectable treatments, nothing is added to the skin during a standard microneedling session — the results come entirely from your own skin's repair process being deliberately, gently triggered. This makes it one of the more straightforward and approachable treatments for clients who want visible improvement without an injectable product.
At Radiance, microneedling is used for general skin texture and firmness, for softening the appearance of acne scarring and other surface scarring, and as a complementary treatment alongside skin boosters or PRP for clients building an overall skin-quality routine.
Is this right for me?
This may be suitable if you want to discuss:
- Uneven skin texture, enlarged pores or a dull, tired complexion
- Acne scarring or other surface scarring you'd like to soften
- Fine lines and early signs of ageing, particularly around the cheeks and forehead
- A non-injectable way to support collagen production over time
- Building an ongoing skin-quality routine alongside other treatments
Not sure? That's exactly what your free consultation is for.
When this may not be right: This may not be suitable if you have active acne breakouts, certain skin conditions, or are looking for an instant result rather than a gradual improvement built over a course of sessions. April will talk this through honestly during your consultation.
Your consultation with April.
Every appointment begins with a free consultation, where April will talk through your goals, assess suitability and explain what may or may not be appropriate. The focus is subtle, considered treatment — never pressure or over-treatment.
Our approach.
Microneedling rewards consistency more than intensity. Rather than going as deep or as aggressive as possible in one sitting, the Radiance approach favours a considered course of sessions, spaced to let the skin properly recover and rebuild between each one.
It pairs well with other treatments at Radiance — some clients use it as a stand-alone course for general skin quality, others combine it with skin boosters for hydration alongside the collagen-building effect, or alternate it with PRP for a more comprehensive skin-renewal routine. April will talk through what combination, if any, makes sense for your skin and goals.

Consultation and suitability check — every appointment begins with a conversation about your skin, your goals and whether microneedling is the right fit, or whether something else would serve you better.
Treatment plan — April will explain the area to be treated, how many sessions are likely to help, and roughly what to expect along the way.
The treatment itself — topical numbing cream is applied first, then the device is passed methodically across the treatment area. Around 45 minutes in total including numbing time.
Aftercare advice — clear guidance on what's normal in the first 24–72 hours, including redness similar to mild sunburn, and how to support your skin while it heals.
Follow-up — guidance on timing for further sessions, based on how your skin responds.
Price and course.
Microneedling starts from £90 per session. A course of three to four sessions, spaced around four weeks apart, is typically recommended to build visible results, particularly for scarring or more noticeable texture concerns. April will explain the recommended approach clearly before you decide whether to go ahead.

Frequently asked.
Does it hurt?
Topical numbing cream is applied before treatment, so most clients find it well-tolerated — a mild scratching or vibrating sensation rather than sharp pain. Sensitivity varies a little by area; the more bony parts of the face can feel slightly more noticeable than the cheeks.
Is there downtime?
Some redness for one to three days is normal, similar in appearance to mild sunburn. Most clients feel comfortable returning to normal activities the next day, though make-up is usually best avoided for the first 24 hours to let the skin settle.
How many sessions will I need?
A course of three to four sessions, spaced around four weeks apart, is typically recommended for visible results, particularly for scarring or more noticeable texture concerns. Some clients then continue with a maintenance session every few months.
When will I see results?
Skin often looks brighter within a few days as surface texture improves, but the deeper collagen-building effect develops gradually over four to six weeks per session, building further with each session in the course.
Is it suitable for me?
Most people looking to improve skin texture, firmness or scarring are good candidates. It's not suitable during active acne breakouts or with certain skin conditions. Your free consultation will confirm whether it's the right fit for your skin.
What does it cost?
Microneedling starts from £90 per session. A course of three to four sessions is typically recommended, with the full approach and cost explained clearly at your consultation before you decide whether to go ahead.
Where will I be treated?
The main Radiance clinic is in Storrington, West Sussex. April also runs sessions in Hove — weekly at Zone4 Hove and a monthly clinic at the Engineerium in Hove Park. See the Hove page for full venue details.
