What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are gel-like substances made from hyaluronic acid — a sugar molecule that naturally occurs in the skin and holds water. When injected with precision into specific areas of the face, fillers restore lost volume, smooth lines, and gently re-balance facial proportions.
They are sometimes used to add volume — for fuller lips or more defined cheekbones — but at Radiance the more common use is restorative: replacing volume that has gradually been lost with age, particularly in the mid-face, jawline and naso-labial folds.
The hyaluronic acid used at Radiance is medical-grade, sourced from regulated manufacturers, and gradually broken down by the body over 6 to 12 months depending on the area treated and the product used.
Is dermal filler right for me?
This may be suitable if you want to discuss:
- Restoring volume that's gradually been lost with age, particularly in the cheeks or midface
- Softening naso-labial lines (the lines from nose to mouth)
- More definition or balance in the lips, jawline or chin
- A subtle, natural refresh rather than a noticeable change
- Addressing facial asymmetry or proportion you've never felt comfortable with
Not sure? That's exactly what your free consultation is for.
When this may not be right: This may not be suitable if you want an instant or dramatic result, or if another treatment would be more appropriate for your concern — for example, PRP is often a better fit for the under-eye area. April will talk this through honestly during your consultation.
Your consultation with April.
Every appointment begins with a free consultation, where April will talk through your goals, assess suitability and explain what may or may not be appropriate. The focus is subtle, considered treatment — never pressure or over-treatment.
Our approach.
The Radiance philosophy on filler is consistent across every appointment: less is almost always more. Conservative dosing, refined placement, and a deliberate aim for results that look natural even up close.
The brief is for you to look refreshed, considered, and like yourself on a good day. Not noticeably altered. Not over-volumised. Friends and family should think you look well-rested, not wonder what you have had done.
Every treatment begins with a free, unhurried consultation. April will talk through what you are considering, what would actually suit your face shape and skin, and — importantly — what would not. If a treatment is not right, she will say so.
Areas we treat
Lips — for definition, gentle hydration, or addressing asymmetry. The aim is rarely about size; far more often about shape, balance and a softer, healthier appearance.
Cheeks and midface — for restoring volume that has been lost with age, supporting the surrounding skin and creating a subtle lift through the lower face.
Jawline and chin — for definition, balance and structure. Particularly effective for clients who feel their lower face has softened or become less defined.
Naso-labial folds — the lines from nose to mouth. Filler can soften these dramatically when placed conservatively.
Tear trough and under-eye — a specialised area where we typically recommend PRP rather than filler for most clients. We will discuss the right option for you at consultation.

Book Free ConsultationWhat to expect at your appointment.
Consultation and suitability check — every appointment begins with a conversation about your goals, medical history and whether filler is the right fit. Nothing is rushed.
Treatment plan — April will explain which areas would benefit, how much product is likely to be needed, and roughly what to expect.
The treatment itself — a series of small injections, typically with topical numbing available for sensitive areas. Around 30 minutes in total.
Aftercare advice — clear guidance on what's normal in the first 24–48 hours and how to support your results afterwards.
Follow-up — guidance on timing for any future top-ups, based on how the treated area settles.
Price and course.
Dermal fillers start from £160 for lip enhancement. The number of areas treated and the volume of product used depends on your goals and what April recommends at consultation — she will explain the approach and cost clearly before you decide whether to go ahead.
"The aim is for you to look like yourself on a good day — not for people to wonder what you've had done."

Frequently asked.
Will it look natural?
Yes — that is the entire point of how we treat. Conservative dosing, refined technique, and a focus on what flatters your face rather than a one-size-fits-all template. We would rather under-treat and have you come back than over-volumise.
How long do dermal fillers last?
Typically 6 to 12 months depending on the area treated, the product used, and individual metabolism. Lips tend to break down faster than cheeks or jawline. Most clients return for a top-up every 9 to 12 months.
Does it hurt?
Most clients describe the sensation as a small pinch followed by mild pressure. We use products that contain a numbing agent (lidocaine) within the gel itself, and topical numbing cream can be applied beforehand for sensitive areas like the lips.
Is there much downtime?
Minimal. Slight swelling and tenderness for 24–48 hours is normal. Most clients return to work and social activity the same day. Visible bruising occasionally occurs, particularly with lip treatment — most clients prefer not to schedule treatment directly before a major event.
Are dermal fillers safe?
When delivered by a properly qualified, insured practitioner using regulated, medical-grade product — yes. All filler treatments at Radiance use hyaluronic acid, which can be safely dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if there is ever a concern. April is fully insured, qualified and registered with the relevant industry bodies.
Is it suitable for me?
Most people are good candidates for dermal filler, but suitability depends on your goals, the area you're considering, and your medical history. This is exactly what your free consultation covers — April will talk through whether filler is the right fit, or whether something else might suit you better.
How much does it cost?
Dermal filler treatments start from £160 for lip enhancement. More extensive treatments — multiple areas, larger volumes — are discussed openly during your free consultation. There are no surprise costs and no upselling on the day.
Where will I be treated?
The main Radiance clinic is in Storrington, West Sussex. April also runs sessions in Hove — weekly at Zone4 Hove and a monthly clinic at the Engineerium in Hove Park. See the Hove page for full venue details.
